Paraprofessional III - Audiologist
Job title: Para III - Audiologist/ECSE Assistant in Special Education
Purpose: To assist and relieve the Coordinator of Early Childhood Special Education department and the Audiologist, so that they may devote maximum attention to the central problems of education and educational administrates; also, to contribute to effective school/public relationships by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries and visitors.
Performance Responsibilities:
Coordinate and assist with on-site hearing and vision testing for Preschool Intervention Program and Special Education classrooms/students.
Assist the audiologist in testing young and difficult to test children.
Engage children and their parents in the testing process.
Maintain inventory and clean audiologic supplies, assist in equipment checks.
Perform vision screenings.
Performs general secretarial duties for the Coordinator of Early Childhood Special Education and Audiologist to include scheduling, maintaining filing, maintaining supply inventory, maintaining accurate records, placing/receiving phone calls.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed:
Prior early education experience preferred. Must have a High School diploma or GED.
Follow directions as communicated in a variety of ways.
Handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
Develop effective relationships with staff, students and parents.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, Google Docs, Google Slideshow, and Google Sheets
Well-developed communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to respect confidences.
Extensive organizational skills and initiative.
Ability to coordinate other workers’ activities.
Ability to handle pressure/stress and ambiguity.
Ability to present a professional image and to successfully represent supervisors in communications with the school board, general public, and district employees.
Basic knowledge of school district operations, policies, and procedures
Preference given to applicants with previous audiology assistant or healthcare experience.
Physical/Emotional Requirements: The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day.
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
Environment: General office environment working one-on-one with children, working with other staff members, working/communicating with parents/guardians.
