Reading Interventionist - Highland Park High School
Reports to: Principal
Purpose: Provides remedial instruction to students who need additional instruction in reading.
Qualifications:
Meet requirements of a Kansas Teaching License
Knowledge of the Common Core Standards, intervention strategies, assessments, and intervention resources
Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel, and parents
Physical and Emotional Requirements: Speaking, hearing, visual, reading, writing, word processing, mobility, consistency of temperament, ability to problem solve and work in stress providing environments.
Performance Responsibilities:
Support core instruction, both remote and in person, for literacy learning
Deliver and use assessment results to diagnose areas of deficiency and make instructional decisions that address students’ weaknesses
Use research-based strategies that meet students’ learning needs and support core instruction
Coordinate planning and communicate students’ performance with teachers, literacy coach, principal, and curriculum coordinator
Use district-approved instructional resources, which includes both primary and supplemental resources
Monitor and maintain accurate records for reporting student progress to teachers and parents
Assist in the assigning and scheduling of students
Terms of Employment: 9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.
Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Certified Personnel.
