Lifeguard
Reports To: Pool Manager
Position Purpose: To maintain a constant vigil over all patrons of the pool while on duty.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 16 years of age
Must hold a current Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification
Must complete PRT preseason training
A Water Test must be passed to qualify
Must have current CPR training at the time they begin lifeguarding duties
Performance Responsibilities:
Enforces the rules and regulations for the pool operation and for the conduct of bathers as set by the Recreation Department
Teaches and assists teaching PRT swimming classes
Maintains a constant vigil over patrons in assigned areas and performs rescue for persons in distress
Renders first aid and CPR when necessary
Performs pool maintenance as needed
Attends all lifeguard training scheduled before and during the summer swim season
Other responsibilities as assigned
Terms of Employment: As determined by supervisor.
Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board policy on evaluation of Support Service Personnel.
